When designing a new kitchen it is important to pay close attention to your color scheme. A color scheme is how you arrange a set of colors together. In an interior space the color scheme helps dictate the visual mood/ feel of the room.
If we put into consideration that your kitchen cabinets are half your budget and fill most of the room then we can safely say that choosing your cabinet color is the first choice. Always keep in mind your style preference when deciding on a stain or opaque for your cabinets because this first color choice will be the deciding factor of what other colors you will bring into the space.
The second most important color to decide is your counter top. Whether it be a type of stone or laminate finding the right counter is keep to creating a color palette that makes sense. We encourage to bring a sample of the door/ color you have picked for your kitchen and visiting your local stone company. Keep in mind that countertops are very visible and occupy a great deal of space as well. You want to make sure to go at least two shades lighter or darker to provide a sense of contrast. It is very important that you avoid picking a top that is the same exact color and tone of your cabinets because it will cause everything to become washed out.
Appliances can be one of the easier colors to pick in the planning of a color scheme. Appliances such as ovens, refrigerators, sinks, and faucets have finishes that easily pair up with the whole color wheel. You can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that a stainless steel appliance or black can go with whatever cabinet and counter color you go with.
Flooring is filled with various options that allow for a simple solution to a color palette problem. The key is picking a floor that is neutral but has a strong contrast to the rest of the space. The key to remember is that a lighter floor will open the space where as a darker color will close in the space.
Finally, picking out your paint color. This part always seems like the most daunting task that you could endure. However, the key to picking a color to your kitchen is picking the least used color present in your counter top. By doing this you will be able to allow your cabinets and counter to remain the focal point.
In conclusion by keeping your color arrangement in mind you will be able to easily find and create your dream kitchen.
